Frequently Asked Questions
Booking Speakers and Workshops
- How far in advance should I request a speaker?
Although it is often possible to book a speaker on short notice, it is best to contact Aid & Abet as soon as you know you are interested. It is never too early. By contacting us earlier, you’ll have the most choice and flexibility around dates and travel arrangements.
- What if my organization doesn’t have enough money?
There are many options for raising money to bring speakers. This could include holding a fundraiser in advance; partnering with other school departments, student groups, community organizations, or businesses to share the cost; or appealing to individuals in your community who might sponsor the event. We’ll be happy to discuss the options with you when you contact us about booking a speaker.
- What does it cost to bring a speaker to my school or community organization?
The cost to bring a speaker, workshop, or film to your school or organization varies widely depending on the speaker. In general, we ask for honorariums between $500 and $5000. We also ask you to cover the cost of travel and accommodations for the speaker(s).
Joining Our Roster
- Why would I want to join your roster?
When you work with Aid & Abet, you get the benefit of working with a group of individuals with lots of experiences booking and managing events and tours. This means we’re great at logistics, we know how to negotiate, and we have lots of existing relationships with event coordinators around the U.S. and Canada.
- I’m an author, filmmaker, or activist. How to I join the Aid & Abet roster?
Aid & Abet is a small organization that works with a limited number of individuals and groups each year. Please contact us at email@example.com if you are interested in joining our roster. It would be helpful if you provided a bio, a link to your website, and information on upcoming book releases or other activities.
- What do you mean when you say you provide “publicity services”?
In addition to booking events for clients, we provide traditional publicity and marketing services. This means that we pitch you or your story to independent and mainstream media, help you create or revise your press materials, or help you develop or implement a media strategy.
